IZSLER is a Public Institute offering services for animal health and food safety [link] [video], in particular diagnosis and research on transmissible and diffusive animal diseases and zoonoses.

IZSLER has a long tradition of research on lagomorphs and it act as National Reference Centre for viral diseases of lagomorphs since 2002 and as OIE Reference Laboratory for Myxomatosis since 2012.
The activities carried out by the staff (Dr. Lorenzo Capucci, Dr. Antonio Lavazza, Dr. Patrizia Cavadini, some technicians and collaborators) include: development of diagnostic methods, production and distribution of reagents, research projects, education and training, consulting and supporting public and private stakeholders.
The definition of prevention and control strategies and surveillance programs is also performed with the support of the Epidemiological Unit Servizio Epidemiologico della Lombardia.
