With the DM 8.5.02 the Department of Health has entitled the “Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Lombardia e dell’Emilia Romagna” (IZSLER), Brescia laboratory, Aujeszky’s disease Reference National Centre.

The European Commission Decision 93/244/EEC (then amended and replaced by European Commission Decision 2001/618/EC) gives also to the Institute the task of checking the quality of the ELISA method in Italy, and in particular of producing and standardising national reference sera according to the Community reference sera.

Institutional tasks of the National Reference Center are defined in DM 4.10.99, art. 2.
